Delara Burkhardt is a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) from Kiel. Since 2019, she is the youngest German MEP.
As a member of the European Parliament's Committee on the Environment, she works primarily on topics such as protection of the climate and biodiversity as well as the circular economy. Particularly due to her role as a rapporteur, she works on European rules for deforestation-free supply chains. She is also the environmental spokesperson for the SPD delegation in the European Parliament.
Delara Burkhardt also works on the issue of migration in the European Parliament's Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice, and Home Affairs. Before becoming a member of the European Parliament, she was deputy chair of the SPD's youth organization (Jusos) and worked in project management for a Hamburg-based communications agency. She studied social sciences and socioeconomics in Kiel and Hamburg.
